I joined in 1990 to try and improve my running, therefore helping to improve my orienteering, I had been taking part in Orienteering events during the 80's. It did improve my running but my orienteering didn't alter a lot.My brother was also a member at the time but I had only been there a year or two and he packed in running.

I feel the pain when I don't run,but have now gotten into the habit of torturing myself at least weekly. I might not be the fastest runner on the field, but I enjoy the pain.

It was more a fetish for the spikes I wore rather than the running! This was shortlived when I discovered various other vices associated with being a teenager which I found far more entertaining!

Haven't managed to sabotage Dewsbury yet so here I am. Got into triathlons in 2002 after a spell feeling overtained and fed up with running (two marathons in 8 weeks a bad idea). So my advice is if you're sick and tired of one sport, take up another two.
